The impeller streaks of centrifugal compressor
In impeller streaks, soda vapor accelerates, increasing its speed and kinetic energy. As the area in the diffuser plate passages increases, the velocity, and consequently, the kinetic energy of the refrigerant increases. This reduction in kinetic energy is offset by the increase in potential energy or refrigerant pressure energy. Finally, high pressure refrigerant is collected on the compressor volute, where more energy conversion takes place. The resulting pressure and temperature are now sufficient for heat to be rejected from the chiller.
