The heat generated by the engine is absorbed by the coolant that circulates through the engine. This heat is rejected by the condenser.
Semi-hermetic motor compressors eliminate the need for mechanical couplings and seals that are associated with open motors. Couplings require alignment, and mechanical seals are a major source of oil and refrigerant leakage. On the other hand, in the event of a burnout, the semi-hermetic motor chiller must undergo a gentle cleaning process while an open motor chiller does not.
