Overheating is normally used to assess whether the refrigerant charge is adequate. It indicates the amount of refrigerant in the liquid form inside the evaporator.
Considering that the equipment is working under the standard conditions (AHRI 210), the following analysis can be made:
- Overheating in the range (5ºC <SA> 7ºC) = Correct load
- Overheat below range (SA <5ºC) = Refrigerant excess
- Overheating above the range (SA> 7ºC) = No refrigerant
