primitive refrigeration Methods

Before the advent of mechanical cooling, the water was kept cold, which is stored in semi-porous earthenware pots, so that the water escaped by permeation through the walls and evaporated. Evaporation resfriava dissipating heat and water. This system was used by the Egyptians and the US Southwest Indians. Often the natural ice of lakes and rivers was cut during the winter and stored in caves or wells coated straw and later in isolated buildings with sawdust to be removed to the extent necessary. The Romans carrying snow from the Alps to Rome in charge of troops, to cool the drinks of the emperors. Although these cooling methods employ natural phenomena, they were used to keep the temperature in a space, can thus be called coolant.
