THERMAL PROTECTOR

This component is connected in series with the circuit that powers the engine. It is fixed against the compressor housing and acts by opening the circuit and turning the compressor off quickly if there is any abnormal increase in temperature or current caused by mechanical, electrical problems or by improper application.
A bimetallic disc inside the protector, sensitive to excess temperature and / or current, flexes away from its contacts and opens the circuit. Some protectors have a resistance in series with the disc which, with its heating, helps to open the contacts in situations of excessive increase in the electric current.
