WATER AS A SOURCE OF ENERGY

Water, energy and life: The great diversity of living beings on our planet has a common characteristic: they all have a large amount of water in the composition of their bodies. Water is part of the formation of the sap, blood and cellular fluid of the individual. It is in the cells that various chemical reactions occur that provide energy for the vital processes and activities of the organism, such as breathing, nutrition, photosynthesis, excretion. For example, photosynthesis is a reaction that forms glucose from carbon dioxide in the air and water absorbed by the roots, under the action of light energy and chlorophyll (green pigment in the plant) and releases oxygen into the atmosphere. Glucose is stored in the roots and / or stems in the form of starch or is deposited on cell membranes in the form of cellulose. Photosynthesis guarantees the life not only of the plant itself, but also of the animals, producing the organic matter necessary for nutrition and providing oxygen for breathing.
