What is the function of the voltmeter relay with electrolytic capacitor in an air conditioner?
The function of the voltimetric relay is to remove the starting (electrolytic) capacitor from the circuit. When feeding the coil of the voltmeter relay, an electromagnetic field is generated that acts the normally closed contact, causing the same to open, removing the starting capacitor, which is installed in series with voltmeter relay contact. Current compressors dispense starter capacitors. The need to use the voltmeter relay only occurs in older air conditioner. Over time the compressor finds it difficult to get into operation and, to facilitate starting, compensating for mechanical wear.
