Drying filter in refrigeration systems

The coolant enters the drying filter which is in the liquid state so the filter must be suitable for liquids. Below we see a specific secant for the liquid line.
A good drying filter should meet the following requirements:
· High absorption capacity of moisture and acids
· Compatibility with POE lubricants
· Compatibility with various refrigerant fluids
· Be based on molecular sieve
· Filtration below 20 microns
· Have external anti-corrosive paint to withstand external and extreme factors. Example: maresia
· Supports adequate working pressure, working pressure usually around 28 bar, and may be higher depending on the system.
· Supports good burst pressure. The appropriate burst pressure is around 175 to 200 bar and may be higher or lower depending on the dimensions of the system.

Filter installation position
You should follow the correct position stipulated by the filter manufacturer. Usually the proper position is vertical. Also note the arrow indicating the position of the fluid flow.
Note: Because the filter has a single direction, it must always be installed at points where there are no reversing valves, since when these are actuated, they change the direction of the coolant and cause problems to the filter and also to all
the system. If the filter is installed in a circuit location where there is a possibility of inversion of the refrigerant, we must use a reversible filter.
