At Ammonia facilities in the food industries, do we have risks for workers' health?

 We have very high risks linked to industrial activities in the food industry that work with Ammonia in their refrigeration processes. We need to be very attentive, equipped and trained to deal with this chemical agent, so we base all work with ammonia (NH3) on the current National Technical Standards as well as on European standards. According to Technical Note No. 03 / DSST / SIT (Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration - Risks, Safety and Auditing), “ammonia refrigeration systems consist of a series of interconnected vessels and pipes, which compress and pump the refrigerant to one or more environments, with the purpose of cooling or freezing them to a specific temperature. ”

Ammonia, with the chemical symbol NH3, consists of one nitrogen atom and three hydrogen atoms, presenting as gas at ambient temperature and pressure. Liquefies under atmospheric pressure at - 33.35 ºC.
