Starting Capacitor

In case of a higher starting torque requirement (non-self-equalizing system - CSIR connection diagram), a capacitor in series with the starting coil is used, which increases the current in the starting coil, consequently increasing the torque. It only works when starting and is disconnected by the relay when the engine reaches normal operating speed.
