How important is it to use equipment to collect the refrigerants used in refrigeration systems

The release of the refrigerant gas into the atmosphere, besides incurring environmental crime, is a waste of money, since the refrigerant can be recovered and reused. It is essential that the company responsible for collecting the refrigerant has adequate equipment for this purpose.
IBAMA (Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources).
Through the guidance and recommendations of maintenance service companies as well as equipment and refrigerant manufacturers during maintenance services, conversions can be made to alternative refrigerants, or to replace equipment that has a service life that is compromised by equipment that already uses refrigerants that do not deplete the Ozone Layer (zero ODP) and that also have a Low Global Warming Potential (GWP).
To recover the refrigerant fluids, simply transfer this fluid to another service cylinder, without the need to clean it, thus avoiding the dispersion of pollutants into the atmosphere. This is done by recovery machines, available in the national market, or can be done through the
collection and recycling centers that are distributed in some cities of the country.

It is important to remember that this product can not be reused until it is recycled. To recycle the refrigerants it is necessary to remove some contaminating products that have entered the system such as: water (humidity), inadequate oil, oleic acids and hydrochloric acids. Only after
a distillation process this product can be reused. The quality of recycling will be guaranteed with the following care:
• Never place two different types of refrigerant in the same service cylinder, for example: R402A with R22,
• Always identify on the service cylinder the type of product collected, such as contaminated R22 or recycled R22.
