Liquid separator used in refrigeration system
The liquid separator is a large diameter tube, which accumulates the liquid refrigerant gas, so that it does not return to the compressor. Normally the liquid separator will contain the liquid gas (in the lower part) and in the vapor state (in the upper part). For the efficient operation of the system, liquid refrigerant gas in the suction tube is not permissible and, to prevent this, the suction tube is welded to the liquid separator near the top, where there is only accumulated steam. The coolant must be completely gaseous before leaving the separator.
