It is of utmost importance in any refrigeration system to check the value of the superheating of the suction refrigerant at the inlet of the compressor, especially in cases where the compressor is installed far from the evaporator, for example in the food cold stores used in supermarkets.
1 - Measure the suction pressure to the compressor service valve and determine the evaporation temperature using a pressure table or scale x temperature in the scale equivalent to the type of refrigerant being used in the refrigeration system.
2 - Measure the suction line temperature approximately 10 cm before the compressor service valve using a reliable thermometer.
3- Subtracting the saturation temperature of the refrigerant from the temperature of the suction line, this difference is the total overheating (suction temp. - evaporation temp.).
