Monitor the oil levels of the commercial refrigeration compressor

During the initial operation of the system it is very important to monitor the oil level in the compressor (or the compressor's oil management system) to verify that the oil is returning to the compressor properly.

• If the oil level falls below the minimum allowed, top up the oil to the minimum level, with the type of oil available. Do not complete to the maximum, as the level may rise again.

• If the oil return seems fickle, with large fluctuations in the oil level during the cooling system cycle, it is recommended that part of the oil be removed from the system and replaced with POE. Replacing up to 25% of the oil with POE will help maintain oil return. The exact amount of oil to be replaced by POE will depend on the system itself (evaporation temperatures, geometry, etc.).

• POE lubricant should be added to the system progressively. An initial addition of 10% (of the total oil load) should be made. The initial addition should be followed by additions of 5%, until the oil level returns to normal.

• It is important to ensure that, when adding the POE to the system, the oil level (immediately after the addition) is kept below the average oil level of the system (eg in the middle of the oil sight glas
