ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE

  It is a known fact that the Earth is surrounded by a gas layer called the atmosphere. The atmosphere exerts a pressure on any point on the Earth's surface known as atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric pressure varies with altitude. In fact, for every 100 m of altitude variation, atmospheric pressure varies from 1 cm of mercury. When we go up, the pressure decreases; when we descend, the pressure increases.
