SELECTION OF VACUUM PUMPS

The choice of a vacuum pump is made in terms of its flow in cfm (cubic feet per minute) and depends on the time required to reach the specified humidity level, the size of the system, the amount of initial moisture contained in the system and the dimension of the pipes.
It is essential that vacuum measurement is obtained using precision electronic vacuometers.

Example of capacity for vacuum pump selection:
• 1.5 cfm: home systems;
• 3 to 5 cfm: commercial systems;
• 10 to 15 cfm: large systems;
In the high vacuum method, a vacuum pump capable of achieving a vacuum of less than 200 m Hg (microns) in two steps is used. By reading below 200 mHg, we will have completed the high vacuum procedure.
