Thermal insulation used in cold storage

Thermal insulation is the indispensable and most important complement of the refrigeration plant. There are two fundamental functions of thermal insulation.
• Reduce energy losses economically (values between 90 and 95%).
• Avoid condensation and / or freezing of water vapor in the environment. Condensation or freezing of water has damaging or even destructive effects.
The main characteristics of the insulating materials are the low coefficient of heat transmission, ie they have high resistance to heat transmission.
The heat transfer of the insulation refers to the conduction. Of the three modes of heat transmission, conduction, convection and radiation, only conduction and convection are considered in industrial refrigeration in the calculation of walls of refrigerated environments.
In general, the other materials that compose the wall are also not considered. Only the insulation material is considered.
