What is total overheating in a refrigeration system?
Total overheating is suction line length, especially in commercial refrigeration where it is not always possible to install the compressors next to the evaporators, the value of the superheating of the vapor refrigerant that will reach the suction of the compressor will be much greater compared to the useful overheating. This is because many times the refrigerant, when leaving the evaporator, will have to travel tens of meters until arriving at the compressor. This will also receive heat from the environment even though the suction line is isolated and load losses will also occur. There are cases where, from the evaporator exit until the arrival to the suction of the compressor, the suction line reaches almost 500 meters in length.
