The Thermal Protector is a protection device for the electric motor of the compressor that, in extreme conditions of overload, or due to the locking of the rotor of the motor, promotes the shutdown of the electrical energy, in order to protect the winding of the motor against the burning. The dimensioning of a protector is performed according to the characteristics of each compressor, such as the voltage and current of the motor, the form of ventilation in work (natural or forced), the ambient temperature in which the protector is mounted, etc.
In summary, a thermal protector consists of a bi-metallic disk, where as electrical current increases, and / or compressor temperature, the electrical contact of the system is interrupted.
