Ecological gases are gases that do not emit CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons), chlorine-based substances that are very harmful to human health and the environment, and which also damage the ozone layer, which is responsible for protecting the Earth against solar radiation. The most common types of greenhouse gases in air conditioners are R-410A and R-407C.
Green gas recharge: handling of R410-A is similar to R-22. The difference is that the R410-A must be completely withdrawn from the system for recharging. It is not recommended to only supplement the gas load. The amount of gas will depend on the appliance and the manufacturer.
The increasingly common use of these gases meets the requirements of the Montreal Protocol and Portaria nº 3.523. Many air-conditioning manufacturers have already adapted to these requirements.
Portaria nº 3.523
The document deals with air quality standards in air-conditioned environments, considering the concern for health, well-being, comfort, among others.
Ecological Gases
R-410A
It is an HFC (hydrofluorocarbon) that has been developed to replace HCFC R-22. It does not attack the ozone layer and is mainly used in newer Hi-Wall split type air conditioners.
